SECOR's recruitment process is interactive, engaging, and challenging. As a small firm with a distinctive culture, SECOR spends significant time in not only selecting those candidates with superior intellect, but also looking at the "fit" of the individual within the firm. Below are some tips on how to help prepare you for the interview process.
Resume Tips
The resume is typically the first step in the screening process. At SECOR, we are looking for individuals who have demonstrated impact through their education and in their past roles and experiences. It is important that this impact is clearly demonstrated in your resume.
Use dollar figures to demonstrate size and scope of projects that you worked on
Discuss the business impact of your projects and roles, not just day-to-day activities ("what you achieved" vs. "what you did")
List activities in school, work, and extra-curricular interests
Previous strategy consulting experience is an asset; try to determine where you may have used strategy consulting skills and highlight those experiences
Case Interviews
During both first and second round interviews, SECOR uses the case method to challenge candidates' analytical and problem solving skills while encouraging rapid processing, logical structuring and discussion of issues, all of which are essential skills in consulting.
Our cases are often based on real SECOR engagements
Cases describe a combination of strategy and tactical situations
Candidates will be required to provide both strategic and quantitative analysis
The best way to prepare for interviews is to just be yourself - keeping in mind that this is your chance to examine us and determine fit for your perspective as well!
