Marcel Côté, Partner, is one of SECOR's thought-leaders on innovation. Marcel's experience in innovation and economic growth policies made him the ideal candidate to be a member of the Expert Panel set up by the Council of Canadian Academies. This exclusive Panel will report this month to the Government of Canada on the state of innovation in Canada. Marcel was also a sponsor of the global MINE (Managing Innovation in the New Economy) survey of over 1000 firms on their innovation practices. The survey documented innovation strategies and performance in all sectors of the economy and ultimately, led to the identification of six patterns of innovation, which we refer to as "innovation games".
Ken Smith, SECOR Chair, has authored an article for the Institute of Corporate Directors. The article, titled "The ‘Short-bolting’ of the Financial System: Dangerous Compensation Schemes and Questions for Directors" provides insight into how incentive packages have contributed to the present financial crisis and more importantly, how to manage them in the future. This article was reprinted with permission from the December 2008 edition of Director, published by the Institute of Corporate Directors
